Après avoir obtenu son master en en sciences de management et d’ingénierie à l’école de Stanford, l’une des meilleures écoles des Etats-Unis, il obtient un entretien d’embauche chez G.S. Il réussit avec succès la vingtaine d’interviews menées par les associés et di- recteurs de la firme. A la fin de ce processus, ils en conclurent que Fabrice Tourre est leur homme. En effet, il est intelligent, une autorité naturelle, un crack des mathématiques, maitrise le jargon financier, et chevronné, avec une soif de réussite professionnelle.

A son arrivée à New-York, il est affecté au service des crédits hypothécaire, le « mortage desk » sous la direction de Jonathan Egol, chef de ce service. Ils se complètent. En effet, Fabrice Tourre est extraverti et un commercial hors-pair, et l’autre est introverti et un homme de concept.

A eux deux, en 2005, ils créent le produit ABACUS.

En 2008, il est promu directeur exécutif et transféré à la City. Avec pour but de manière officieuse, adapter le produit Abacus, au marché Européen.

Cependant en 2009, suite aux révélations du New York Times, sur son implication sur le produit Abacus, sa licence de trader dans la city, lui est retiré.

De ce fait, il décide de retourner en à Chicago et de préparer un doctorat en économie. En 2013, il quitte la Firme.
